Trix

  • Trix for Connectors is divided into four sections: Grammar and Meaning, Lexis, Reference and Textual. There are 80 games in total.

    • Play Trix for Connectors to learn and practise a huge range of connecting words and phrases, in a most enjoyable game.
    • The games cover a range of words, phrases and grammatical devices for joining ideas logically. These include conjunctions, adverbials, pronominals and relatives. Lexical echoes such as synonyms, antonyms and restatements are included, as these are also major elements in the coherence of texts.
    • The introduction What are Connectors? explains the importance of written and spoken connectors.
    • Trix for Connectors is ideal for students preparing for FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS, and those who need to read and write texts for professional or academic purposes.
    • Play Trix for Connectors alone, in pairs, or in the classroom as a team competition.

After the game, an all-important feedback screen will remind you of your scores, and show the complete list of words used in the game together with their correct answers or cues. This stage will help students revise the language used ready for the next game, and giving a helpful indicator of progress.

The language used in the game can also be printed off for use away from the computer, and as a permanent record of these connectors.

Throughout, Trix is excitingly coloured with graphics and clearly labelled buttons. The screens are uncluttered and the instructions easy to follow, leaving you to concentrate on learning English.
