Trix

  • Trix for Business English is divided into three Challenges, each of twenty five games, and progressively more demanding.
  • Play Trix to learn and practise a huge range of business language in a most enjoyable game.
  • Trix for Business English is suitable for pre-service and in-service learning.
  • Play Trix with a partner, as a team game in class, or individually against the clock. Win by making as many trix (groups of three hexagons) as you can. Fill the board with your colour!
  • There are ninety themed games involving lexical collocations, phrasal verbs, frequently-used idioms, grammatical collocations, definitions, and various sorts of meaning and nuance  – all in the realm of the language of business.
  • You will categorise, complete, define, discriminate and match. There is maximum recycling as you observe your partner’s choices.
  • Enjoy the game, and then print out the answers for further study.
  • Play the game again to improve your score. Randomisation of items ensures you never play exactly the same game twice. There’s always something new!
  • Work your way through three increasingly demanding Challenges.

After the game, an all-important feedback screen will remind you of your scores, and show the complete list of words used in the game together with their correct answers or cues. This stage will help students revise the language used ready for the next game, and giving a helpful indicator of progress.

The language used in the game can also be printed off for use away from the computer, and as a permanent record of these phrasal verbs.

Throughout, Trix is excitingly coloured with graphics and clearly labelled buttons. The screens are uncluttered and the instructions easy to follow, leaving you to concentrate on learning Business English.
